2023 Godward Vineyard
Cabernet Sauvignon
The Godward vineyard, originally established by Bill Godward in the early 1970s, was replanted to Cabernet Sauvignon in 2002 under the careful stewardship of Gary Morisoli. Nestled within the prestigious Rutherford AVA, this exceptional vineyard sits on prime benchland terroir that produces beautifully fruit-forward Cabernet Sauvignon.
Arkenstone began working with the Godward vineyard in 2020, and it has quickly proven itself to be an outstanding addition to our portfolio. The vineyard's unique location and meticulous farming practices yield grapes that contribute exceptional character and quality to our Cabernet Sauvignon program. The combination of the site's established vines, ideal positioning within Rutherford's renowned growing region, and the dedicated vineyard management makes this fruit a valuable component of the Arkenstone lineup.
Vineyard
In 1970, Bill Godward discovered a tranquil ten-acre parcel set on a gentle downslope along the famed Rutherford Bench. Drawn to the site’s quiet beauty and exceptional soils, he held the land for decades before replanting it in 2002 to Cabernet Sauvignon with the guidance of fourth-generation winegrower Gary Morisoli.
Situated on classic benchland, the vineyard produces Cabernet that reflects the warmth and generosity of Rutherford while maintaining structure and balance. The resulting wines are fruit-forward and expressive, making Godward Vineyard a natural and compelling addition to the Arkenstone Collection.
“elegance, structure, and refined complexity make the Estate Red a standout.”
