When we made the decision to plant our vineyards, we were acutely aware that what attracted us to this magnificent property was the rugged beauty of the natural setting. It was clear to us that we would lose that native beauty if we took down trees and cleared radically for vineyards. Because of our choice to limit vineyards to previously cleared areas, we have been slowly finding additional outstanding fruit sources off the estate to continue to build our Arkenstone family of wines. We wanted to keep making wines from the steep, eastern volcanic mountains in the Napa Valley because we love the profile of this fruit. Our newest members of the Arkenstone family are our Arkenstone NVD Cabernet Sauvignon and our NVD Sauvignon Blanc, created from this beautiful fruit. The meticulous oversight, both in the vineyards and in the winery by winemaker, Sam Kaplan, assures a solid note of consistency with our Arkenstone Estate wines.
This is a classic Cabernet Sauvignon with some Mountain Sass. The balance of tannins, minerality, acidity and intense fruit concentration hit all of the notes on the palate and leave you with a satisfyingly long finish. Sourced from vineyards at around 1600 feet of elevation in the Eastern Napa Mountains, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon fits well into our Portfolio.
When we decided to expand our Sauvignon Blanc program, we found a site high in the Eastern/ Mountains of Napa Valley that sits just above the fog at elevations mirroring that of our Howell Mountain Estate. Over the course of a couple years we established an amazing block of Sauvignon Blanc using the same clone as our Estate. Utilizing the same winemaking technique that makes our Estate Sauvignon Blanc so special, and Winemaker, Sam Kaplan’s oversight in the vineyard, this 100% Sauvignon Blanc is a stunning addition to our Arkenstone family of wines.
